Music City Response
An EF-3 tornado traveled through the Music City for nearly 90 miles. Unfortunately, it created quite a path of destruction as it blasted through heavily populated areas. Many families are grieving the loss of loved ones, as a result.
Given the proximity of our national HQ to this storm, we were able to send leaders to the area the same day the storm hit. This was a nocturnal (middle of the night) storm and we showed up to survey the scene within hours. There was a lot going on as local responders were still actively searching for people, buildings were still on fire, and live power lines lying on the ground. People who had woken up to changed scenery at the break of sunlight. We witnessed many people actively processing the impact and were able to pray with many who did not know where to turn.
Because of God’s favor, we were able to quickly establish partnerships locally and set up our volunteering. Leaders traveled from another active Rapid Response event in Jackson, MS in order to prepare for the volunteers traveling in to help Nashville area. After two weeks of serving, we are thankful for the 550+ volunteers from over 30 states who touched our neighbors in Mount Juliet, TN. They served 130+ families in their darkest hours. God’s people brought hope and healing as they served in unity.
