Using the potential of our gifts...
Since fall 2014, Eight Days of Hope has been responding to disasters within 72 hours. Through this time, our volunteers have been conditioned to be the calm in the middle of chaos and to bring hope to the hurting and heartbroken.
Today, I am so excited to share that there are ways in which we are able to use our gifts and talents in order to serve our community in a relevant way:
1. Shipping N95 masks to hospitals in Mississippi, New York, and Louisiana. We normally use these to protect our workers when they are dealing with mold and mildew after floods. Now they are needed to help our medical staff across America as they respond to the #coronavirus
2. In partnership with other ministries and a local bank, our volunteer kitchen staff is cooking hot meals as others deliver them to shut-ins, people who are unable to afford meals due to layoffs, or other reasons. We expect to cook hundreds of meals a day.
Grateful that God has given us skills, experience, and tangible ways to serve, even in ways we could have never imagined. Thankful that our leadership sees our resources as something for the community and for a greater purpose than ourselves.
